I left a while ago, but I would still defend the religion- saying crap like: "I'm not living like a JW. If I ever go back to religion, I would go back to them." I didn't want to "bring reproach" when I was going in and out of the dope house or totally drunk in some bar. So, no. BUT, I would not have know about them joining the UN. It was "bennyk" who helped me out. He is well versed in the scriptures- he's read the bible 13 times and the New Testament and additional 8 times. He knows a little Greek and studdies various commentaries. In the beginging of the year I have had at least nine 3hour calls w/ him about the scriptures- that kind of interest was never there before or after I got baptized. I'm trying to live better, but am not yet abiding by all of the scriptures. I've bneen clean almost 3 years and intend to stay that way, but not to keep from being disfellowshipped I dispise "the truth" but love God and his Son (who is the head of the congregation, NOT the Faithful and Discreet Slave).

Now that your out, what are your core values?
by m. kirov inare there any principles of the faith that you have kept... do you try to maintian a high moral standard?
did your views on abortion change?
would you go to war?

GBL- the values of which I speak are whatever you believe in. I'm curious what integrity ex-JWs hold. Do you "love thy neighbor"? You don't have to have have religion to have ethics. Just as we all know that having a religion does not mean you become a pinnicle of virtue.
and completely unrelated --where did this post show up? I am just trying to feel my way around the board, blindly. I have only made one other post and a few people found it but my brother had to got to the member directory to see it. I'm feeling a little inept...i would apreciate any information on how the magical forum works. thanks

Turning in time reports monthly-
by JohnHag inif a jw has to turn in a time report each month then it seems like compulsion--when is it out of love that one goes out into service?

hold on tight, the Governing Body will soon take a big dump of new light and tell 6,000,000 people prayer time needs to be counted (this way sheparding calls can be made).
and everyone will thank God that they have the Body as a high priest to give them spiritual food poisoning

Does Devil Talk Irritate You?
by love2Bworldly ini enjoy reading the bible on my own since i left the jw's.
i get extremely irritated when other people talk to me about how satan is causing certain things in my life--example is if i'm not getting along with a coworker or anything like that.
(my husband also blames satan).

Hey, man, it's a great way to blame something other than yourself for a lack of conscience and integrity.
What I hate more is someone telling another that if they only had a strong relationship w/ Jehovah they would not be sick or depressed.
...and then there is the "everything happens for a reason" crap. I know a 6 year old girl who was raped at 15 months--what was the reason? Satan gives too much at the office.

Any good Christian who loves Jehovah's "simpleton-appointed organization" whould never have a baby in this world. You are supposed to wait until the paradise (I mean, just look at any of the pictures in the publications. FYI-Judging by the ages of the happy children, it will take 8-10 years to clean up the earth). If you love righteousness you wouldn't have a baby. It is only selfish people who would rather waste their time and $$ on children, rather than devoting their time and resources in devotion to the Golden Calf in NY. In fact, if they really loved Jehovah (read "WTS") they wouldn't get married in this system.
BennyK- if you don't stop making babies I will have no choice but to report your "Apostate" self to the loving brothers, so that they can give spiritual direction to your seed.

One upsmanship...
by hartstrings inwhen i was a regular attender, most of my jw "friends" were pioneers because that is who we spent our days with, lol.
well, it always annoyed the crap out of me when the pioneers would act like they were so special when they were able to get a new publication prior to its arrival at the local kh.
they were basically bragging about their connections.

some of the pioneers i new engaged in prematital/ extramarital sex (appartenly oral isn't loose conduct or cheating), kind of like some of the elders i new of. and then there were 2 pio-boys who were good dope hook-ups
sad, how many you can look back on who were veiwed as spiritual for the hours of service be it at a meeting or the field, who's families needed them. i mean, really needed them.

Do you think God is Sexist?
by The Lone Ranger ini do have some thoughts on this subject, there are some interesting scriptures that come to mind on this subject but i want to get other peoples opinions.

-

Did you meet any con artist types there?
by LongHairGal init seemed to me that there were a number of con artist types of personalities i came across during my years there.
i am not referring to people who were actually doing anything illegal.
what i am referring to are people who were very adept at getting things out of other people.

far too many. there is one congragation in the milwaukee area in paticular that had an ex-marine elder that did what he could to disfellowship whomever he felt like dissfellowshipping. he would call a certain brother "queer" or "fag" for wearing a pink tie. (i have met other ex-marines in "the world" that were much more Christian than he, but he was so very Full Metal Jaket.) another one there would beat the crap out of his kids. there was a pioneer sister who would push people or stick her leg out to trip them. she was super catty with any feamle who was not a grandma (you know the type). she ended up having an affair on her elder husband w/ another brother. there was the one that did the "Michael Jackson" thing and invited boys back to his house. and the rest, save a very few, were just your average dope feind. scamming with their words.
no stortage of agendas
